Great, but...

Great phrases, good layout. But I dont have sound. That was the whole purpose of me buying this app.

awesome!!!

Im going to France next week and this is exactly what I need. the sound is clear and easy to understand. :) buy it if u wanna learn French !!!!!

No sound

App would be great but there is no sound, need to fix this bug

app is great.

the person speaking makes all the diiference. basic French to get u around. if there was a way to search for a word in French or English that is in the app that would be a great enhacement. well worth the price. thanks!

Easy to learn basic conversation and pronunciation.

Its nice to learn basic conversation and learn the pronunciations includes the numbers and alphabets. Hopefully, would like to choose more combinations flexibly, because some combinations are virtually fixed. It may have memory leaks, I encountered some sudden shutdown of the application. Anyway, Im expecting to a Russian version and a German version.

Worthless

I should have read the reviews first b

Not worth it

This is not worth my $$. Not as helpful as I needed. Now I have to spend 3x for a better app

This Is So Great!!!!!!

There are so many words and its so easy to use! I love this and it will help anyone learn French. I take French but can barely speak it. Well worth the money!!!

Best French Translator Out There!

I first bought the Spanish Pro Translator and loved it. It had a well organized and stocked library of phrases that could get you through many conversations. But the language I have wanted to have handier was French and the Oxford French Pro does not disappoint in the least. As with the Spanish, it has main categories and sub-categories that break down what you are looking for in a very concise, manageable way. That way, you arent scrolling for what you want for very long. You can find what you need pretty quickly. Secondly, it has very clear, native speakers who pronounce the words in such a way that you can actually hear them. Im all for learning dialect, but if I cant hear the word clearly enough to even know what it is I feel as if Im missing something. So Oxford totally got it right. I think thats especially important for French. As with the Spanish Pro, you can form your own combination of words to create the sentence you want which makes a big difference over any other translators. Ive bought them all and this one is the best, hands down. Highly recommended! Additional note: for the person who paid $9.99, to give this a one-star rating doesnt accurately reflect the quality of the product. I also paid $9.99 and its the best value Ive found even at that price. I think if you contact the developer youll find they are very customer-oriented. I did and they responded extremely well. For the record, Im not a relative or friend, just a fan of a quality app. This thing is easily worth the price, whatever you paid. Just my two cents...

Not a Translator

This application is not a translator. It is more of a phrasebook, that must be really handy for tourists, but serves no clear purpose for French language learners. Very much regret downloading this application.

Haha

Man, that stinks that u people had to pay 9.99 for this because it isnt worth that. That is why I bought it now when it is on sale for only 1.99

Good phrase building but not a translator

This is very helpful for building simple, useful phrases, but I am disappointed that it does not translate for you. Theres no way to enter in something you need to specifically need translated which is disappointing to me. I was mislead by the name of the application so I figured others may be too. The explanation they give of the phrase building is accurate.

Great before update, now it just hangs whenever I try to sync my phone

This app was pretty good before the update. Im about to travel to France and thought it would be a good idea to invest in something that could help me get around. Then I updated the app. I noticed it took FOREVER to update via WiFi. And then, when I connected my phone to my Macbook and clicked sync, it just refused to transfer the update from my phone to my computer. Please fix.

Fantastic app!

Total trip saver! Helps you get around if you do not speak the language. Great app. Very worth it!

Great tool for travel!

I just purchased the 3.0 version for 4.99 from the App Store and it downloaded fine. It just takes a few minutes and hesitates for a bit in the middle. Be patient and it will work fine. I did not want to have to pay the fees required to access the internet on my iPhone when in a foreign country so did not want a translator that required that. As another reviewer said, one can access Google translation through Safari if need be. I know some basic French, but this looks like it will be very helpful when I get stuck (which will be often). It is easy to use and having the voice say the word or phrase is really helpful.

Very handy

This translator/phrase book is very handy. I made good use of it while in Paris. If you dont know any French it is so helpful to be able to very quickly look up a needed phrase and not only read it but hear it pronounced. I was glad to have it! Certainly worth the $2.

MOVE THE #?@! HOME BUTTON!!!

Move the "home" button. EVERY TIME. Again, every time I try to listen to a sentence I create I press the Home button by mistake. Please if just a hair. Its so frustrating!

Well done but not whats needed

I bought this app hoping it would help us on a two week trip to France. It helps you pronounce common travel phrases in French. Its good at that but I dont think thats whats needed. Its reading the menu in a French Restaurant where no one speaks English thats the problem. This doesnt help with that. I never felt the need to pull out my iPhone to use one of these simple phrases. But I was confused at mealtimes in every restaurant that didnt have a waiter who could speak fluent English.

Great customer service

Just bought app for wife going to France. She loved the free app. App installed fine, had sound on video, but not for translations. Sent support a note and got IMMEDIATE response. My bad, had slipped to vibrate mode. I am very impressed about getting a human response, on the weekend and after hours no less. Now that is service.

Too little content

Nice app however just not enough vocabulary to be helpful. Would recommend others get a translator or more robust content app until developers include more terms and content.
